Croatia faced Ukraine in Kiev on October 9, 2017, for the final World Cup qualifier of Group I.

Croatia defeated Ukraine in the crucial final qualifier for World Cup 2018 in Russia. A win for Croatia secured their place as one of the best second-placed teams, forcing them into a playoff round for advancement into the competition next year.

After a scoreless and nerve-wracking first half, Croatia’s Andrej Kramarić saved the day in the 62nd minute after scoring a stunning header off an incredible assist by Luka Modrić.

Croatia up 1:0 and still not a lead comfortable enough, Kramarić became the hero again after another goal in the 70th minute for a 2:0 Croatia lead.
