Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is one of the main topics of French sports daily L’Équipe.
French sports daily newspaper L’Équipe released an edition focused on the year in sports. Three pages are dedicated to Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, reports Index.hr on December 22, 2018.
Given the promising year of Croatian sport, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović was often found on the covers of international sports media. Recall, the unforgettable and still fresh scenes of France and Croatia under the Moscow rain after the World Cup final in July brought a lot of popularity to the Croatian president.
International media wrote about Kolinda’s emotion during the World Cup for days after the tournament had ended. The French were so impressed by Kolinda, that polls even showed they would rather have the ‘warm and empathetic’ Kolinda than the reserved and cold French President Emmanuel Macron.
The first lady of Croatia thus became the primary promoter of Croatian sport. In addition to football, Kolinda also showed her spirit at the Davis Cup between France and Croatia last month.
“With her enthusiasm, she stole a show of the Croatian champions,” says L’Équipe in their text and analysis of Kolinda as a brand of Croatia.
“The checkered queen. The supreme and determined woman who kissed Emmanuel Macron after final of the World Cup and who celebrated the victory of Croatia over Russia in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in front of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev,” said the French sports daily.
“Along with its athletes, the world was presented a small country from the Balkans, independent since 1991,” claims L’Équipe, who considers Kolinda a connoisseur of communication.
“Forbes ranked her as the 47th most powerful woman in the world in 2018. She is a great polyglot (speaking English, Spanish and Portuguese) and knows how to sell. Did she learn her communication methods in America where she was educated?” L’Équipe asks and describes the life and political path of the Croatian president, who was elected in 2015.
“She never hesitates to show her passionate side to get closer to her people,” they added.
In the epilogue of praise, L’Équipe concludes that Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović should distance herself from friend Zdravko Mamić, who was recently sentenced to six and a half years in prison for embezzlement in Dinamo.
