“In addition to promotional purposes, sporting events also have a considerable economic effect, and over the years Croatia has proved to be an excellent organiser and host of major global sporting events,” Minister Nikolina Brnjac said, adding that the Ministry will support large sporting events planned for this year with a total of HRK 30 million (€4m).
Among the events to be co-financed by the Ministry are the Boris Hanžeković Memorial athletics meeting, the World Clay Pigeon Shooting Championship, the Final Four of the Golden European Volleyball League, the Croatia Open Umag ATP Tournament, the Super United Croatian Grand Chess Tour, the World Rally Championship and the European Water Polo Championship.
