August 3, 2024 – Donna Vekić has won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Paris!

Donna Vekić lost to China’s Qinwen Zheng 6:2, 6:3 in the final on Saturday. Vekić played a good game, but Zheng was more or less perfect.

Vekić’s silver medal is the fourth medal for Croatia at these Olympic Games. Not only is this the biggest achievement in Donna’s career, but it’s also the first medal for Croatia women’s tennis in the history of the Olympic Games, announced HOO.

Donna’s medal is the sixth overall won by Croatia tennis players. Goran Ivanišević won bronze in Barcelona in 1992 in singles and doubles with Goran Prpić. Mario Ančić and Ivan Ljubičić won bronze in the doubles competition in 2004 in Athens, and in 2021 in Tokyo, Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavić won the gold after defeating Marin Čilić and Ivan Dodig in the Croatian final.

This was Vekić’s second appearance at the Olympic Games.

Bravo, Donna!
