Croatia’s young football team has learned of their opponents in the 2019 U-21 European Championship which will be played in Italy next June.

Croatia will play in the U-21 European Championship for the first time since 2004 next year. Coach Nenad Gračan’s team has been dealt a very difficult group which includes England, France, and Romania, reports Gol.hr on November 23, 2018.

Group A: Italy, Spain, Poland, Belgium

Group B: Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Austria

Group C: England, France, Romania, Croatia

The U-21 Euros will be held from June 16 to 30, 2019. Croatia will play against Romania in the first round on June 18, followed by a conquest against France three days later. In the final round on June 21, the young ‘Vatreni’ will play against England.

The group winners and the best second-placed team will fight in the semi-finals and place in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

Croatia will have a powerful generation in the championships, led by the new A-team duo Nikola Vlašić and Josip Brekalo.

In addition to the two young superstars, the Croatia U-21 national team will feature the outstanding goalkeeper Karlo Letica, Marseille stopper Duje Ćaleta-Car, Leicester stopper Filip Benković, midfielders Ante Ćorić, Nikola Moro, Petar Bočkaj, Lovro Majer, Alen Halilović and Admira attacker Marin Jakoliš.

On November 15th, Croatia played a friendly match against France, a team they will now meet in the Euros next year. While Croatia was close to winning, the game ended 2:2.

England has a mighty team of players including Reiss Nelson, Ryan Sessegnon, and Phil Foden. England’s U-21 team also boasts players who play for the A-team and who could boost this generation to the Euro title, like Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

The most impressive name in Romania’s national team is Ianis Hagi, the son of the legendary ‘Maradona of the Carpathians’ Gheorghe Hagi.
