This will be the fifth year in a row that a Croat will celebrate the title of Champions League.
For the first time ever, the Champions League final will see four Croats – Mario Mandžukić and Marko Pjaca from Juventus, and Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić from Real Madrid, reports Goal.com on May 10, 2017.
While there is no chance that Marko Pjaca will see the pitch in the final (he will not be recovered from an injury until next season), the remaining three Croats have a more than realistic chance to christen the final pitch in Cardiff on June 3rd. In fact, unless something wildly outrageous happens until then, the first 11 on Juventus and Real Madrid will include both Mandžukić and Modrić.
The Champions League title has so far been celebrated by nine Croats – Alen Bokšić, Zvonimir Boban, Davor Šuker, Dario Šimić, Igor Bišćan, Mario Mandžukić, Luka Modrić, Ivan Rakitić and Mateo Kovačić
Marko Pjaca, therefore, has the opportunity to become the tenth, although it is already known that his injury will not allow that to happen this season.
One thing is certain: Croatia will have a winner of the Champions League for the fifth year in a row. In 2013, Mandžukić won the title with Bayern Munich, in 2014 Modrić won the title with Real Madrid, in 2015 Rakitić won the title with Barcelona and last season, Modrić and Kovačič celebrated the win at Real Madrid.
The Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid will take place on June 3, 2017, in Cardiff.
