Dubrovnik Run League 2017 held its enormously popular run on Lokrum this weekend.
On Sunday the 29th of October, 2017, the ambience of the beautiful green island of Lokrum was filled with the sound of feet hitting the ground as athletics enthusiasts took to the many paths of Dubrovnik’s emerald island.
Dubrovnik has, to the surprise of many (owing to the very many imposing hills and steps), become quite the popular running destination over the last few years, and lovers of masochis… sorry, I mean athletics, have been flocking to the Pearl of the Adriatic and the surrounding areas for quite some time, both during the pre and post summer season to engage in various sporting challenges. Lokrum is no exception!
As DuList writes on the 30th of October, 2017, the total running trail on the island was nine km, along a picturesque but tiring route.
Lokrum is, rather unsurprisingly, the most popular race in the program and it this year saw 43 registered runners.
In first place was Perica Vučković with an impressive time of 36:43, the second was Toni Crnjak (37:54) and the third Luka Čupić (37:56). On the women’s side, first place was taken by Doris Cvitić with a time of 49:28, followed closely by Nela Madeško (50:44), with Biljana Taslak taking third place with a time of 53:30.
