January 19, 2024 – Ivan Perišić is officially a Hajduk Split player!

The club confirmed today that Ivan Perišić will once again wear Hajduk’s white jersey with #4 after almost 17 and a half years.

Ivan returns to Poljud after an extremely successful international career. Perišić joins Hajduk on loan until the end of the season from Tottenham. After the end of the loan at the end of June, cooperation between Tottenham and the Hajduk winger was agreed upon for the next competitive season.

Perišić passed all the categories of Hajduk’s Academy and became one of the best players in the world as a winger. At the same time, he is one of the most recognizable products of the Split club. In the summer of 2006, he left Hajduk for Sochaux in France. He never played an official match for Hajduk and played eight friendlies in which he scored one goal.

In 2009, Ivan went on loan from Sochaux to Rooselare in Belgium, where he made his first official professional appearance. His good performances earned him a contract with Club Brugge, and in the 2010/11 season, he scored 22 goals in the championship, thus winning the title of top scorer in the Belgian league. The Association of Professional Footballers in Belgium named him player of the year.

Throughout his celebrated career, he also played for the German club Borussia Dortmund and won the championship and the Cup in 2012. With Wolfsburg, he celebrated the Cup and Supercup in 2015. With Bayern Munich, he won the Champions League title in 2020 and the Bundesliga.

For many years, he played for Inter Milan, lifting the Serie A trophy in 2021 and the Cup and Supercup in 2022. In the summer of 2022, he left Inter for Tottenham, where he played before signing for Hajduk.

He made his debut for the Croatia national team on March 26, 2011, against Georgia under coach Slaven Bilić. In 13 years, he recorded an impressive 129 appearances for the national team and scored 33 goals, making him the second all-time top scorer for the Croatia national team, which he shares with Mario Mandžukić. With Croatia, he won a silver medal at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and scored a goal in the final against France. Four years later, Croatia won the bronze medal in Qatar, and Ivan was one of the most important players in the quest for the medal. Last year, he played with the national team in the Nations League final.

In September 2023, he suffered an ACL injury and still has a few months of recovery before returning to the pitch. Hajduk officially presents Ivan at 5 pm today.
