Total Croatia News

Player admired and beloved by Croatian football fans has decided to leave international football

In a sentimental letter, published on March, 2. 2016, Ivica Olić has announced his decision to end his international career with the Croatian National Team. He feels it is time for younger players, and promises to support the team in the future from the stands.

Olić has played 104 games for Croatia, scoring 20 goals, and his international career spread over 14 years will be remembered for his dedication and tirelessness. He was not the most gracious player, and in early days of his playing for the National team, questions were raised if he is good enough, but in the time, he became an irreplaceable member of the team.

This retirement is one more example of his great character, as he feels he is struggling with his form at the moment, and he did not want to be chosen for the team based on former glory, he made the decision himself. His character was also recognized World-wide, and even The Guardian has praised him couple years ago, comparing him with Cristiano Ronaldo, and it is maybe the best praise Olić could get.

For you, we have attached the compilation of his skills, and there is nothing more to add apart from Thank you, Ola!
