Konjuh Fails to Reach Semi-finals in Prague

After the match was resumed, the Croatian tennis player succumbed to her Latvian opponent.

In the match resumed today after being interrupted at 6-3, 4-6, 1-1 due to darkness on Thursday, Ana Konjuh lost to Latvian Jelena Ostapenko with 6-3, 4-6, 3-6, Jutarnji List reported on May 5, 2017.

Konjuh made a great start to the second day of the match. In the first game she made a break and took the lead 2-1, defending her service to go up 3-1. Unfortunately, after that she failed to win any games. Ostapenko turned the match around with two breaks and celebrated with 6-3.

Konjuh won the first set on Thursday although she was losing 2-3, but then won four games in a row by taking the service of Ostapenko twice. The great series was continued by the 19-year-old Dubrovnik native in the beginning of the second set where she led with 2-0, but then lost her momentum, which her Latvian opponent used to get back in the match. At 5-4 for Ostapenko in the second set, Konjuh had two chances to even up at 5-5 with her service, but after not taking advantage the Latvian managed to claim her first set point.

In the marathon second game of the third set Konjuh managed to save a break point for Ostapenko in her fourth attempt, when the match was interrupted at 1-1.
