Captain of the Croatian National Football team, Luka Modrić has reached an agreement with Real Madrid to extend his existing contract until 30 June, 2020, reports the Real Madrid website.
The 31 year old midfielder arrived at Santiago Bernabeu in August 2012 by way of Tottenham, when he signed a five-year contract – tying him to Real Madrid until the summer of 2017.
The 3-year extension to Modrić’s contract shows the clubs appreciation to his contributions in their successes over the past four years, while expressing confidence in Luka as a leader over the next four years.
The captain of the Croatian National Team is currently recovering from the surgery he had a few weeks ago removing a broken piece of cartilage in his left knee. According to the doctors’ prognoses, Modrić will be back on the pitch by mid-November.
To speak about his new contract, as well as the ongoing process of recovery after surgery, Luka Modrić will speak on Wednesday, from 13.30 at a press conference at the Santiago Bernabeu.
