WTA Bol Open has come to an end, it was an excellent tournament, and both the players and guests had a great time in Bol during the last week.

In the final played on June 5, 2016, Minella defeated Slovenian Polona Hercog 6-2, 6-3. Minella is 30 years old and is ranked 186th in the world. She was not a tournament favorite but her solid performance and the injury of Ana Konjuh in the semifinals in the second set opened her the doors for her first WTA title of the career. Hercog was nervous in the final and Minella played flawlessly. In the second set, Slovenian even had a 2-0 lead but she lost it and at the end trophy went to Luxemburg.

The winner couldn’t believe it.

Croatian representative Petra Martić paired with a Swiss Xenia Knoll won in the final of doubles tournament at WTA Bol Open against the Romanian Raluca Olaru and Turkish Ipek Soylu 6-3, 6-2. “I am glad that I won at least a trophy in doubles in Croatia. Finally, I won a tournament, even it is in doubles. It has been a long time since I won something” – said Martic laughingly.

Swiss Knolls is half Serbian from her mother side: “My mom is from Belgrade. I know Petra since about a year and a half ago, we played together for the first time and won. I had a great time in Bol I had more parties than in the whole year so far ” – said Knoll.

The audience at the finals had an opportunity to enjoy the performance of the Cuban ballerina Ana Karla Suarez, the star of the music video “Bailando” by Enrique Iglesias.
