Marin Čilić Successful in Washington

Marin Čilić, Croatia’s highest ranked tennis player, made it to the third round of the 500 series ATP tournament in Washington with a win against Hyeon Chung of Korea (7:6 (2), 6:3 ).

In his first tournament after Wimbledon Čilić somewhat struggled in the first set, winning only after a tie break. Second set was another story, Čilić quickly found his game and after three service breaks won 6:3.

Ivan Dodig and Ivan Karlović are also playing in the same tournament. Dodig, who entered as a “lucky loser” after Marcus Baghdatis dropped out, wasn’t able to capitalise on a somewhat easy draw, Guido Pella from Argentina was better, winning 6:3, 6:7 (7), 7:5. Ivo Karlović was free in the first round as the 10th seed, his first match is scheduled at 3 AM CET, his opponent is Aleksandar Dolgopoliv from Ukraine.
