Miran Maričić Wins Croatia’s First Medal at Paris Olympics

July 29, 2024 – Sport shooter Miran Maričić has won the first medal for Croatia at the Olympic Games in Paris!

Maričić won the bronze medal in the 10-meter air rifle discipline with 230.0 points. The second Croatian shooter in the final, Petar Gorša, took sixth place (165.6).

The gold medal went to China’s Sheng Lihao (252.2), setting a new Olympic record. He was also the best in the qualifications. Sweden’s Victor Lindgren won silver (251.4).

After the first series of five shots, Maričić was second with 52.8 points, and Gorša was sixth with 51.8 points.

Miran Maričić was second even after the second series with 105.1 points, and Gorša climbed to fourth with 104.8 points. Gorša, for whom this is the fourth Olympic Games, finished the competition in sixth place with 165.6 points after 16 shots.
