SDUS State-Secretary Janica Kostelić adopted a decision on financing sports programmes for five umbrella organisations – Croatian Olympic Committee, Croatian Paralympic Committee, Croatian Sports Federation for the Deaf, Croatian Academic Sports Federation, Croatian School Sports Federation – granting a total of 180 million kuna, which is an increase of 24 million kuna or 15.5% compared to 2017, SDUS reported on Friday.

Total allocations for sports since the 2016 budget have increased by almost 100 million kuna and in addition to increasing funding to satisfy the needs of public sport at that state level conducted through umbrella organisations, funding has been increased from 2.2 million kuna to 7 million kuna for local sports and competition and two new activities have been introduced with funding of eight million kuna to promote the organising large sports events and a further 14 million kuna from the European Social Fund to include vulnerable people in sports.
