Croatia Water Polo Qualifies for 2024 Paris Olympics

February 11, 2024 – Croatia has qualified for the Paris Olympics this summer!

Croatia easily beat China 22:4 in the round of 16 of the World Water Polo Championship in Doha.

Ivica Tucak’s team has thereby qualified for this year’s Olympic Games in Paris, which was the main goal of the tournament. On Tuesday, Croatia will play against Serbia in the quarter-finals of the World Champs.

Croatia was the big favorite against China, which is led by Ivan Asić from Split. China’s victory against Brazil in the group stage and reaching the knockout stage of the World Champs was an incredible success. The top scorer for Croatia was Konstantin Kharkov with four goals. All other Croatia players scored at least one goal, not counting the goalkeepers. Marko Bijač stopped nine shots.

Croatia beat Australia in the group stage (13:8), lost to the current European champion Spain (10:6) in the match for first place in the group, and outclassed South Africa (29:6). Croatia was also convincing against China. On the other hand, Serbia beat Japan (17:10), Montenegro (14:6) and the USA (14:12).
