The Olympic gold winner, javelin thrower Sara Kolak takes away another win, this time at the IIAF Diamond League meeting in Lausanne on July 6, 2017, reports Novi list.
Kolak again proved her miraculous throw in Rio last year wasn’t a one-time wonder. She arrived in Lausanne with a season’s best throw of 65.23m, then proceeded to outdo her own best three times in a row, crowned with a final effort of 68.43m: a new national record and the world’s best in 2017!
She extended her previous personal record for 2m and 25cm, beating her own Olympic-gold winning result of 2016. Just like in Rio, Kolak entered the final leg at the second place with 66.65m, closely following the world champion, Czech Barbara Spotakova who led with 67.40m. Things turned around quickly, and the 22-year-old athlete from Ludbreg crushed it with the best throw in the world in the last 4 years.
Third place went to the Australian Kathryn Mitchell with 66.12m.
