Total Croatia News

Lokomotiva draws 2:2 with Hajduk in the tenth round of the Croatian First League on Sunday 24th September 2017.

Hajduk hosted Lokomotiva in Split on Sunday, September 24th, 2017. Poljud witnessed a turbulent match with most of the action going down in the last 30 minutes, ending with a 2:2 draw after Lokomotiva’s unexpected goal in the 92nd minute, reports Index.

Lokomotiva arrived at Poljud in high spirits after two consecutive wins against Inter and Cibalia. Sunday’s game marks their third victory in a row, giving Lokomotiva much more reason to be pleased with a tied score, taking away a valuable point at their second hardest away game so far. Hajduk thus continues their unfortunate streak, as they took away a single point in the last three matches.

The fans had to wait until the 65th minute for the first goal of the match, but the first half was nothing close to uneventful. Both teams had two great opportunities each: Hajduk missed two chances in the 35th minute, with Nižić hitting the post and Erceg’s attempt getting blocked by Lokomotiva’s captain Šunjić.

Lokomotiva’s Krstanović sent the ball flying past the goal in the 14th minute, while Ivanušec went for the shot in the 44th minute, his attempt heroically defended by Hajduk’s keeper Stipica.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, a dramatic turn of events: Krstanović picked up a pass from Karičić and went for the shot, bringing Lokomotiva into the lead in the 65th minute.  Hajduk equalised with a goal by Almeida, who managed to find the back of the net in his first 30 seconds on the pitch after replacing Bašić in the 72nd minute.

Almeida proved to be the hero of the match, as he brought Hajduk in the lead with another goal in the 90th minute. The roaring crowd started celebrating a bit too soon: for the biggest surprise of the night, in the second minute of extra time, Capan scored for Lokomotiva, closing the match with a 2:2 draw.

Hajduk is currently in third place with 17 points and Lokomotiva in 6th with 11 points.
