With a 20.52 metre throw, Croatian shot-putter Filip Mihaljević was the winner of the Virginia Challenge meet in American Charlottesville, also making the norm for the World Championship to take place in August in London
Mihaljević’s score was two centimetres better than the norm, also the new meet and Lannigan Field Stadium record. Currently a student in the United States, Mihaljević was excellent in last year’s indoor World Championship in Portland, winning the bronze with a 20.87 metre shot, Jutarnji List reported on April 22, 2017.
Mihaljević thus joined on the list for London the new Croatian shot put record holder Stipe Žunić, who threw 21.45 metres at the Easter Meet in Split on April 8, the fourth best score in the world this year.
