The Sinković brothers are back and ready for another record season.

Croatia’s best rowing duo, the brothers Martin and Valent Sinković, will officially open their new season in the World Cup in Belgrade from June 1 to 3, 2018, on the regatta course Ada Ciganli, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on May 29, 2018.

“We have been doing a lot of work, and I believe we are much better than last year, especially in our technical performance. The expectations are great, everything is going well, and we believe that by the end of the season and the World Championship we will be even better,” Valent Sinković said on Tuesday.

After three years of domination in double sculls competitions, the Sinković brothers decided to try out a new discipline last year – coxless pair. In last year’s races in the new discipline, they finished without the gold medal, though they achieved second place at the World Championship in Bradenton, USA and the 3rd World Cup in Lucerne Switzerland.

“New Zealand and Italy will not compete in Belgrade, but there will be England and Romania that could be good. It is difficult to say anything before the first race because you never know if someone is new and how fast they are, but we are ready, and if we compete with our best, I believe we will fight for gold,” said Martin Sinković.

The first qualifying race is scheduled for Friday, June 1, the semi-final on Saturday, while the final is scheduled for around 11:00 on Sunday.

To date, the brothers from Zagreb have achieved an 2016 Olympic gold in Rio, a 2012 Olympic silver in London, bronze at the 2011 World Championships in Bled, gold at the 2010 World Championships in Karapiro, gold in the 2013 World Championships in Chungjiu, gold in the 2014 World Championships in Amsterdam, gold in the 2015 World Championships in Aiguebelette, silver in the 2017 World Championships in Sarasota, silver at the 2010 European Championships, and gold at both the 2012 and 2016 European Championships.
