Croatia beat France 29-28 in one more thriller played between the two rival teams
As we predicted, it was a tight game between two biggest rivals in handball world, and Croatia took the points in the dying seconds of the fourth round match of the Olympic handball tournament.
Croatia started in good form and led for the most of the time in the first half. In the second half, France tightened its defense, but Domagoj Duvnjak took the responsibility and had some crucial moves to leave Croatia in the contest.
It all went down to two penalty shots in the last two minutes of the match. The score was all tied at 28-28, and Croatia had the penalty shot which Zlatko Horvat took and placed into the net. With 15 seconds left on the clock, France had the penalty shot, and Gigou stepped up to take it. It looked like the match will end with a tie, as he scored all six seven meters shots in the game to that point.
But Croatian goalkeeper Ivan Pešić had a plan of his own. He saved the shot and led Croatia to the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament. The last group match for the Cowboys is scheduled for Monday late evening vs. the Tunisian team.
