Croatia tennis player Jana Fett made it for the first time in her career to a WTA tournament semi-finals. She defeated in quarterfinals Paraguayan Veronica Cepede Royg 6:1, 6:4
The match lasted 72 minutes, with Fett breaking the service of her opponent four times, while losing her own only once, Tportal reported on January 12, 2017.
The 20-year-old Zagreb native will play in the semi-finals against Belgian Elise Martens who defeated the first seeded, Dutch Kiki Bertens.
“I am really excited about my game. I am surprised to be in the semi-finals, wasn’t expecting it,” said Fett, ranked 340th on the WTA list, having paused for most of 2016 due to wrist surgery.
In Hobart she made it for the first time to the main tournament, eliminating in the first round former Roland Garros finalist, 36-year-old Italian Francesca Schiavone.
