Nikolina has been called the ‘Luka Modrić of boxing’.
Young Croatian boxer Nikolina Čačić returned to Croatia after winning the silver medal in the 57kg category at the Junior World Junior Championships in Budapest, reports Gol.hr on September 2, 2018.
The member of BK Omega, who is just 17 years old, faced the first-seed Sakshi Ghanghas Choudhary in the final, who proved to be too strong for Čaičić.

“I am happy and satisfied with my world championship performance, especially in the second to last fight,” said Čaičić, after returning to Zagreb where a formal reception was held to welcome the silver medalist at the BDSR Omega space.
“I trained great all year long, and we were well prepared for the championship. We had a quality training plan and program,” added the young Zagreb athlete.
Nikolina Čačić’s success in Budapest has thus won her a performance at the Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Buenos Aires in October.
“I’m happy, second place is a great success. Nikolina was better from match to match. Unfortunately, in the final, she did not make it past the experienced Indian boxer. Nikolina did not stop fighting,” said coach Franjo Krstić.
The young boxer was congratulated by the president of BK Omega, Vlastimir Rac.
“We are proud of the historic success of our Nikolina, who has reached this achievement with tough training in our club’s premises. BK Omega also gives thanks to the Omega Veterans Sports Recreation Society for the use of their training venues where the children of killed defenders, invalids of the Homeland War, schoolchildren, students and other recreationalists also train. We wish Nikolina a lot of sports success in the future,” Rac said.
