At only 26 years of age, Ante Jeličić Bellezza has become the youngest head coach of Australian men’s national handball team, Slobodna Dalmacija reports on August 9, 2017.
This is another success story for this young Hvar resident who is the best example of how hard work always pays off.
The Australian team will participate in the Asian Cup in January, where Ante will try to secure their place at the World Handball Championships which will be held in Denmark and Germany. Although he admits that he is not an expert when it comes to being a coach, he is positive that with some enthusiasm, will, and some luck, he can lead the Australian team can to their goal.
“Life has taught me that you have to be passionate about what you do. That’s why I have faith in this new life challenge. I have always loved handball and I believe that my passion can be transferred to young people and that we can achieve enviable results in handball if we work together. I am extremely proud and grateful for being selected and I will put in all my experience and knowledge in working hard to getting to the championship that is ahead of us,” Ante said.
This versatile young was born in Split, and he became popular thanks to his novel “Love Prayer,” which we wrote about here.
After its great success in the United States, his literary debut saw some excellent reviews in his homeland as well. For Ante, literature and sport go hand in hand, so along with regular handball and football practice, he also completed a study programme to become a sports manager and coaching school. In addition, he was also the captain of HoNoLuLu five-a-side football team from Hvar.
