The hunt for schoolbooks in Split ahead of the new academic year on Monday.
Students in Split, and especially their parents, are at pains trying to buy some of the textbooks necessary for the new school year which begins on Monday. They are having an especially hard time finding the textbooks published by Profil Klett, which are almost impossible to locate. However, the publisher claims that it is not true that their textbooks cannot be found in Split and says that its textbooks for primary schools are available in the Narodne Novine bookstore at the Kralja Tomislava Street 25, and that the same bookstore will by the end of this week offer their textbooks for secondary schools as well, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on September 5, 2015.
However, the problem is that there is no bookstore at the above mentioned address. They were probably referring to the bookstore at Kralja Zvonimira Street, where some of their textbooks can now indeed be found. “Furthermore, it is possible to order all of our textbooks for elementary and high school at the bookstores ‘Skripa’ at Mejaši Street 11, ‘Sunčica’ at Pujanke 24, and ‘Boti Commerce’ at Šimićeva Street 24”, said a representative of the Profile Klett publisher.
Talking about why their books are not available in “Školska Knjiga” and “Algoritam-Profil-Mozaik” bookstores, the publisher said: “We did everything to make our textbooks available in these bookstores, but you will have to ask them why they have not ordered any books from us”, said Profile Klett.
By far the largest number of textbooks can be found at the “Školska Knjiga” bookstore. The employee of the bookstore Tanja Borojević said that in the bookstore they have available all the textbooks and other teaching material by “Školska knjiga”, as well as other publishers, such as “Alfa”, “Profil” and other smaller publishers.
To conclude, the best solution is to go to a bookstore, preferably during those parts of the day when they are the least crowded, and to check on-site which of the needed textbooks they offer. What cannot be found that way, can be borrowed from older students, bought in the used books shops or ordered online.
