Tax Administration Reveals Effects of Croatian Retail Boycott

January the 26th, 2025 – The Tax Administration has revealed the financial effects of the Croatian retail boycott which spread across the nation on January the 24th, and it’s considerable.

As Morski writes, given the great interest of the public following the recent Croatian retail boycott, we’ve got our hands on the most up to date information from the fiscalisation system. It includes the number and amount of bills and receipts issued. The data was compared for the following dates: 24.01.2025, 17.01.2025, and 19.01.2024 from 00:00 to 16:00. It regards all economic activities and fiscal activities within G-47- Retail trade, with the exception of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.

On Friday (24.01.2025) from 00:00 to 16:00,the total number of fiscalised bills and receipts issued stood at 3,549,613. Their combined amount was 55,041,349.77 euros. On Friday (17.01.2025) from 00:00 to 16:00, the total number of fiscalised bills and receipts issued stood at 5,031,265, while their total amount was 80,117,967.56 euros. On Friday (19.01.2024) from 00:00 to 16:00, the total number of bills and receipts amounted to 4,282,459, while their amount added up to 62,230,748.75 euros.

The Tax Administration data shows that the number of bills and receipts issued between 00:00 and 16:00 on Friday the 24th, the day of the Croatian retail boycott, compared to Friday the 17th from 00:00 to 16:00, decreased by 29%, while the sum also decreased by 31%. Furthermore, on the day of the Croatian retail boycott from 00:00 to 16:00 compared to Friday the 19th from 00:00 to 16:00, the number of receipts and bills issued dropped by 17%, while the sum also decreased by 12%.​

On Friday the 24th from 00:00 to 16:00, the total number of receipts and bills stood at 1,479,587, while their amount was 19,573,948.68 euros. On Friday the 17th from 00:00 to 16:00, the total number of bills and receipts issued was 2,574,751, while their total amount stood at 39,247,711.69 euros. On Friday the 19th from 00:00 to 16:00, the total number of receipts and bills issued stood at 2,182,060, while their combined sum was 30,929,365.26 euros.

This most recent data from the Tax Administration shows that the number of bills and receipts issued on the day of the Croatian retail boycott from 00:00 to 16:00 compared to Friday the 17th from 00:00 to 16:00 was a significant 43% lower. The total sum was also 50% lower. Furthermore, on Friday the 24th from 00:00 to 16:00 compared to Friday the 19th from 00:00 to 16:00, the number receipts and bills issued was 32% lower, and the amount on those receipts and bills was also 37% less.
