What a historic night for the “new” Brač Airport!
On Tuesday evening, the first aircraft landed at the new Brač Airport! The Embraer 190, which landed in Brač via Brussels, was part of the TUI fleet, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on May 23, 2017.
The aircraft, which can carry 112 passengers and five crew members thanks to fuel-efficient engines, will bring travelers to Brač throughout the year.
On charter flights, TUI’s guests will come from Brussels to the hotel “Zlatni Rat” from May 23rd until September 3rd this year. On June 13th, flights will operate from the French city of Deauville every Tuesday until September 3, 2017. Apart from charters, flights will be available for purchase through the TUI website.
As you most likely already know (if you don’t, read here), the “new” Brač Airport has undergone a runway extension, expanding the former 1,440 m runway to 1,760 m which can land jets with up to 150 seats. These aircraft include the Airbus 319, Boeing 737-300, Fokker 100, and the CS 100-300, which will now connect Brač with Europe.
Thanks to this capital project which saw a 6 million HRK investment, Brač Airport this year expects to see an increase in the number of passengers by more than 70% compared to last year.
The new infrastructure has already aroused the interest of several airlines that, through the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County, have expressed a desire to negotiate flights directly to Brač from several European destinations for the 2018 season.
