May 3, 2018 – A luxury tourism event which showcases the very best of Croatia. Take a look at what is in store for participants of the 2018 Nikola Tesla EV Rally next month, the quietest rally in the world.
What is the best way to see Croatia at its finest over a 7-day period?
For some, of course, nothing beats the magic of sailing Croatia’s spectacular Adriatic coast and endless islands, while for others, a week on the beach may not bring much in terms of different things to see and do, but it is hard to beat in terms of relaxation.
But what if you wanted to experience the finest Croatian hotels, discover its islands, coast, historic towns and stunning national parks, enjoying fine food and wine along the way?
Can there be many better options than the Nikola Tesla EV Rally, now in its fifth year, and an event showcasing the very best of Croatia’s heritage, gourmet and traditional credentials, while showing its international participants (from over 30 countries so far), the breathtaking beauty and eco-opportunities of the land of the birthplace of the great man whose name is associated with the Nikola Tesla EV Rally.
This year’s event will take place over 8 days in early June, taking in 5 islands, 6 national parks, 15 towns and cities, and more than 1500 km of majestic Croatia. Much more than just a rally, there will be food and wine experiences considered among the very best in Croatia, ample time for sightseeing, and a relaxed pace to enable participants to inhale the natural beauty of this diverse and magical land. Five-star accommodation all the way.
The social aspect of the rally is an important component, and where better to begin than a welcome party at gorgeous Hotel Lone in Rovinj?
Moving on to the first discovery of the secrets of Istria, including lunch and wine tasting at Trapan.
Despite the logistical challenges, the rally has succeeded in pushing the boundaries of what is achievable for electric vehicle travellers, include visiting some of Croatia’s islands. Now imagine the logistical headaches of trying to arrange charging solutions for all those vehicles. The rally team not only did that last year, but also had 50 Telsas on a specially chartered ferry, perhaps the first such ferry in the world.
A relaxing day in gorgeous Mali Losinj, including speed racing at the local airport, which was an absolute hit last year.
Four islands in one day, before the annual gathering at Zadar’s famous Greetings to the Sun, before relaxing at the luxury Falkensteiner Iadera.
Enjoyment over speed – day 5 is given over to enjoying the fabulous Kornati islands, with a range of options, including another airport speed race, this time at Sepurine.
From Zadar to Zagreb, with two very important stops on the way. UNESCO World Heritage Site Plitvice Lakes is Croatia’s most spectacular natural paradise, as well as an inspiration to Tesla himself. The rally heads to Plitvice after paying homage to Tesla with a visit to the house of his birth in the village of Smiljan, before finishing on Zagreb’s main square, Ban Jelacic.
A well-earned overnight rest at the luxury Hotel Esplanade in Zagreb is a fitting end to the rally itself, but the fun continues into an eighth day, with a final skills exam, awards ceremony and one last unforgettable taste of Croatian cuisine.
