Canadian travelers will be pleased to find that Air Canada Rouge and Air Transat will boost operations to Croatia in 2019.
Even more good news is coming from the West, though this time it’s not from the United States. Namely, Canadian carriers Air Canada Rouge and Air Transat are planning to boost operations to Croatia in 2019, reports Ex Yu Aviation on October 29, 2018.
Air Canada Rouge will boost operations to Croatia with five-weekly flights between Toronto and Zagreb in 2019
Air Canada Rouge will add another flight between Toronto and Zagreb next year in addition to the four weekly seasonal flights from Toronto to Zagreb in 2018. Operations will resume on May 27, 2019.
Air Transat will boost operations to Croatia with a route from Toronto to Split in 2019
Air Transat will also add another seasonal weekly flight to Croatia next summer. Not only will their two-weekly existing flights improve from a 345-seat Airbus A330-200 to the 375-seat A330-300 aircraft, but Air Transat will add a new seasonal service once a week between Toronto and Split next summer with its A330-200 aircraft. This makes Split the third airport in Croatia with transatlantic and long-haul flights over the summer, following Zagreb and Dubrovnik airports. Air Transat will operate to Croatia next summer from June 20 to September 12.
Air Transat hopes to boost operations to Croatia even more in the future
“We’ve seen great interest in Croatia since we started flying there in 2016. That’s why Air Transat is proud to be meeting this demand even better by upping its offer to three direct flights from Toronto, including two to Zagreb. And thanks to our connecting flights from Montreal and Vancouver, more travelers can now discover Croatia’s second largest city,” said Annick Guerard, Chief Operating Officer, of Air Transat. “Tourism has seen incredible growth in the Balkan Peninsula, which many now rank among the top European destinations,” Guerard added.
But that’s not all. There could be even more flights to Croatia in the future, as Air Transat CEO Francois Lemay said that a new Airbus A321XLR jet would allow the airline travel to even more destinations.
“It [A321XLR] would easily reach destinations such as Split in Croatia, which Air Transat plans to serve from 2019. The route will initially use the carrier’s fleet of Airbus A330 wide-bodies as it’s beyond the reach of the A321neoLR,” Lemay said. The new Airbus A321XLR jet is expected to operate from 2023.
