October 7, 2018 – Continuing our video tour fo Croatia as it once was, a visit to the capital Zagreb some 50 years ago.
It is the biggest city in Croatia, home to about 25% of the country’s population, and the centre of business and administration. In recent years, it has become a major tourist hit as well, as visitors have learned that there is much more to Croatia than its stunning coast and islands.
It is probably, for me at least, the destination which has changed the most in Croatia since I arrived way back in 2002, when Zagreb was not considered to be a very exciting city. With more than a million visitors last year, and with Lonely Planet naming it the best destination in Europe, things have certainly changed in recent years.
But how did Zagreb look 50 years ago? In the latest look back at snapshots of life in Croatia in yesterday, a video look at Zagreb exactly 50 years ago.
