Slightly outdated, but if they think their readers need a reminder…..
Migrant crisis, terrorist attacks and other recent events have changed the tourist map. In order to break some stereotypes and of course to inform their readers of safe travel destinations, popular UK newspaper The Independent takes a closer look at locations that have been battlegrounds in wars in the last several decades and have now turned into some of the safest travel havens in its article “Six once-dangerous countries that are now safe holiday destinations”, published on November 20, 2015.
Croatia tops the list, even though, in our humble opinion, considering that the Homeland war is decades behind us, we would like to believe readers have known for quite some time that Croatia is indeed not only safe, but a booming “must-visit” country.
The Independent goes back to the time when more than a million tourists from the UK travelled to former Yugoslavia every year for a mere price of Ł99 a week. We may not be close to those numbers yet, but with over half a million announced arrivals from the UK in 2016, and new flights being added almost weekly, we’d say we’re on the right track and things can only get better. As for the article itself, a bit of Google searching would have made a world of a difference.
