As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Europe is littered with charming coastal towns, each offering its own unique blend of sun, sand and culture. Recently, the popular British newspaper, The Guardian, published its list of the “10 best coastal cities in Europe”, and two Croatian coastal towns have firmly found their places on it, as Večernji list reports.

Šibenik

The first of the Croatian coastal towns on The Guardian’s dazzling list is beautiful Šibenik, which the British publication quite rightly describes as a mini Dubrovnik. They write that although it is nowhere near as globally famous as Dubrovnik, it shares the same beautiful Venetian-style buildings and houses with red roofs, without the big crowds.

It’s perfect for exploring, according to The Guardian, from the seaside promenade to the stunning cathedral and the maze of narrow streets that lead to St. Michael’s Fortress. Banj beach is nearby, with its crystal clear sea and facilities such as restaurants and playgrounds. Visitors to this ancient Dalmatian city can also go on boat trips to the pristine islands of the Kornati archipelago.

Croatia’s southernmost town of Cavtat also found its place on this list of Croatian coastal towns. According to The Guardian, charming little Cavtat lovely seaside town in Dalmatia that boasts beautiful houses with red roofs surrounding a small bay. It is about 20 kilometres by sea from the hustle and bustle of the always busy City of Dubrovnik.

The paper notes that along the coastline, visitors will find nice cafes and restaurants, some of which have been owned by the same families for generations. There are places for swimming in perfectly clear water, and a boat taxi to Dubrovnik and the Elaphite islands which lie just northwest of Dubrovnik is also available. Visitors to Cavtat can also take a walk through the picturesque forest paths and enjoy sunset drinks at the beach bars along the way.
