ZAGREB, September 15, 2018 – French tourism was presented on Friday at an event at Zagreb’s French Institute at which Croatian tourists were invited to visit France.
The presentation was given by representatives of the French tourism development agency Atout France, the French Embassy and eight French tourist destinations. They also held a workshop with Croatian travel agencies.
Representatives of French ski resorts said they had more and more Croatian tourists every year.
Gordana Malić of Atout France said Croatian tourists generated 611,000 overnights in France in 2017.
French Ambassador Corinne Brunon-Meunier underlined the importance of cooperation between French and Croatian tourism partners, saying both countries had plenty in common that could be used in tourism, such as good cuisines, wines, natural beauties, the sea, and rich cultural and historical heritages.
“Both France and Croatia are showing through tourism the importance of togetherness in the EU, so our governments have agreed stronger cooperation at all levels, and in April this year they also called for bolstering cooperation in tourism. We are already talking about that and agreeing projects with the Ministry of Tourism and other partners in Croatia and rest assured that the French diplomacy supports your initiatives,” she said.
Nikolina Frklić of Croatia’s biggest tour operator Atlas said France was their most in-demand destination and that the number of Croats visiting French destinations increased by the year.
