September 18, 2018 – The Korčula Tourist Board announces a great new late season addition – the first Korcula Beer Festival in Zrnovo.

When one thinks of a refreshing drink on the island of Korcula, the first thing that comes to mins is a glass or two of the two excellent indigenous white wines of the island – Grk and Pošip. Both are highly prized far beyond the island’s shores and – coupled with the powerful Plavac Mali reds from the neighbouring Pelješac Peninsula – it is little wonder that more and more wine tourists are heading to the land of Marco Polo to check out the Korculan vineyards first hand.

But now there is a new show in town, and one which is part of a new trend in the Croatian drinking scene – the craft beer revolution. There has been an explosion of craft breweries in Croatia in recent years, with many beer festivals springing up all over the country. The first craft beer producer on a Dalmatian island emerged several years ago, as a Polish lady on Hvar who was married to a local opened the Vunetovo brewery in Hvar Town. This was followed by some enterprising Norwegians who introduced a local craft beer to the island of Vis.

Korčula has not been slow to follow the trand, and the Pinjac Pub and Brewery opened in Žrnovo earlier this year – TCN checked it out over the summer, and you can read about it here.

And what better way to enjoy a good beer than with one’s very own beer festival! In the words of the Korčula Tourist Board:

The 1st Korčula Beer Festival will be held at “Pinjac Pub & Brewery” in Postrana, Žrnovo on Korčula island on October 5-7 from 5.00 pm-2.00 am.

Croatian breweries are taking part too! Come and enjoy the beer, food and live music daily!
