January 24, 2018 – As Hvar prepares to celebrate 150 years of the oldest organised tourism in Europe this year, Suncani Hvar Hotels are sprucing up their hotels for the special birthday. A look at the new-look top floor of its most luxurious hotel, Adriana.
it is the biggest overhaul of the hotels of Hvar Town since the complete renovation and rebranding of Suncani Hvar Hotels a decade ago. That renovation brought the hotels of Hvar Town in line with the quality of the destination, and Hotels Riva and Adriana in particular have won several international awards and commendations over the last decade.
2018 is an important year for the island, as it celebrates 150 years of organised tourism in Europe, after the founding of the Hvar Health Society in 1868. As previously reported, the main celebrations will take place between May 10 (the traditional Feast of St Prosper) and the anniversary of the Hvar Health Society on May 15. May is one of the nicest times of the year to visit Hvar Town in general, and this year should be extra-special.
Renovations are ongoing in various buildings in the town, including the Town Loggia, which is sure to be a focal point for Hvar 150. The most exciting hotel news is that Hotel Palace, the location where organised tourism in Europe began all those years ago, is due to open as the first 5-star hotel on Hvar later this year. More on that as we get it, but there is plenty happening elsewhere in the Suncani Hvar upgrade.
