Positive arrival trends to continue until the end of 2015
As confirmed by Uniline, one of Croatia’s largest tour agencies, after few years of stagnation, there is a significant increase of Italian tourists in Croatia, especially from the south.
Most active holiday period for Italians (Feragosto) is behind us, and our latest statistics show that not only has Croatia managed to bring Italian tourists back, it has also attracted one particular segment we didn’t see before, at least not in any significant numbers – tourists from the south of Italy – Uniline management commented.
This new segment of Italian tourists is most interested in Novalja, Pag, Makarska, Dubrovnik and Hvar while significant increase in Italian guests can once again be seen in Istria. According to Uniline, one of the contributing factors was the new and relatively cheap flight Rome – Pula. Italian tourists mostly opt for private accommodation and 3/4 star hotels and they often select various daily excursions, food and wine tastings and visits to cultural sites.
According to the data from Croatian Tourist Board, in the first seven months of 2015 we have recorded 460 200 arrivals from Italy with 1,85 million overnight stays (increase of 8,5%) and this does not include arrivals from the busiest month of the year – August. Continuation of this positive trend is expected until the end of the year.
