MMA Middleweight Champion Michael ”The Count” Bisping visits Dubrovnik

”Here I am at Kings Landing, i.e Dubrovnik. No filter, for real” wrote Michael Mike ”The Count” Bisping on his Instagram profile as a caption under an image of the sunset taken just outside the city walls, Dulist.hr reports on September 10, 2016.

The 37 year old Englishman, who was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, and raised in the UK, started training in Jujitsu at the very early age of 8, and at the age of 15 he competed as an amateur in Britain’s first “no holds barred” competition, a precursor to the modern day MMA. At the age of 18, Bisping decided to abandon his martial arts training “to pursue real life” but less than a year later, he was drawn back and began training in boxing, kickboxing and karate on the advice of Allan Clarkin, the owner of Black Knights Kickboxing, who saw potential in the young man. Bisping enjoyed a short but successful kickboxing career, winning the North West Area title and later the Pro British light heavyweight kickboxing title. After again briefly quitting competition in 1998, he returned to kickboxing to successfully take the Pro British light heavyweight title for a second time.

Bisping uploaded several photos from his time in Dubrovnik to his Instagram profile, praising the cleanliness of the town, streets and of course, the beauty of the sunsets.
