Obonjan: Delayed Opening of Croatia’s New Festival Island

Total Croatia News

A less than smooth start for Croatia’s new festival and wellness island on July 28, 2016, as the opening is delayed, leading to uncertainty from festival goers.

The opening of the much-touted six-week wellbeing festival on the island of Obonjan has been postponed on its inaugural day, reports The Guardian. Organisers say they are working on issues which have caused the delay – the lack of water and electricity – and have posted the following information on Facebook:

“Urgent message about customers heading to Obonjan in the next couple of days – the island is currently without running water and electricity, if you have not yet travelled we advise that you don’t. Please check your email for further details of next steps and how we can help you with your flights, accommodation and refunds if required. Email queries to [email protected] or call +44 (0) 203 808 7333 – we’re working round the clock to rectify any problems and open the island as soon as possible.

For people visiting later in the season, there is no need to call, your booking will remain unchanged

UPDATE FOR VISITORS TO OBONJAN ISLAND BETWEEN 28 JULY AND 3 AUGUST

Obonjan Riviera Limited regrets to inform that we have had to take the difficult decision to postpone today’s opening until at least 3rd August, as the island is currently without running water or electricity. We sincerely appreciate the disappointment this causes to our early customers travelling out to support our opening, and the inconvenience to your holiday plans.

Please be assured that we are working tirelessly to resolve the operational issues on the island to open as soon as possible but, in the meantime, are contacting everyone confirmed to stay with us for the opening week, personally, to assist with alternative arrangements and process refunds as quickly as possible.

For those already in Croatia, we understand this news is reaching you incredibly late and during your precious holiday time. Please contact our Croatian team (+385957332212/ +447732053386) who are working to secure alternative accommodation locally and can assist with rearranging any travel plans. We also have representatives at Split airport to assist with this.

We are advising all customers due to fly to Croatia between today Thursday 28th July and Wednesday 3rd August not to travel, but instead to liaise with our UK team (+442038087333 / [email protected]) to reschedule for later in the season or else process a refund for you.

We sincerely apologise for the disruption and thank you to all those who have been so understanding and supportive.”
