May 6, 2024 – Ontario’s Legislative Assembly has proclaimed May 30th as Croatian Heritage Day in the province.

The Croatian Heritage Day Act received Royal Assent and was proclaimed law on April 25, a day that will be etched forever into the memory of Croatians in Ontario and Canada. As part of this momentous occasion, Croatians are recognized for their contributions to Ontario’s cultural, social, and economic landscape.

In the Flamborough-Glanbrook riding in Hamilton, MPP Donna Skelly introduced and championed this landmark legislation, which was initiated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Mississauga and supported by Croatian organizations throughout the province. The legislation acknowledges the significant contribution Croatian Canadians have made to the province’s economy, culture, and society.
