“The year globally marked by the pandemic will be remembered as the most successful,” said the director of the nature park, Alen Jurenac.
He said the Papuk Nature Park had gone from having tourism potential to becoming an unmissable continental destination, adding that another successful result was the opening of the Geo Info Centre in Voćin, which marked the end of UNESCO’s Geopark project.
The interactive multimedia Geo Info Centre opened in Voćin in mid-December. It covers over 800 square metres and is designed as a place where you can travel through the past of the planet Earth and as a starting place for introducing visitors to the features of the Papuk Geopark and the nature protection system.
“The Papuk Nature Park has been the most visited destination in Slavonia for some time now, so we feel the responsibility to live up to that status this year as well. Two modern educational centres, an adrenaline park, a campsite, kilometres of hiking and cycling trails with 1,200 species of plants, which is a quarter of Croatia’s flora, guarantee an unforgettable experience for the entire family,” said Jurenac.
