The project was implemented in cooperation with the Istria County Institute of Public Health and is intended to promote healthy living styles.
Deputy Mayor Elena Puh Belci said that the aim of the project was to encourage local residents to different types of physical activity.
“I am glad to say that we have located 12 beautiful hiking trails in our city, and I believe that everyone will be able to find the trail that suits their interests best,” she said.
“We have hiking trails along the coast, through the urban parts and through the woods, they are of different length and some are more and some less demanding,” she added.
“For all nature lovers and hiking devotees, Pula is the perfect place to enjoy such a hobby. In the surroundings of Pula there are about a hundred kilometers of marked hiking trails. About 30 kilometers of trails, some of which are close to the sea, pass through the famous Šijana Forest near Pula. This well-known forest, whose original name is Kaiserwald or Imperial Forest, is just as pleasant in spring and summer. So, if you want to spend your holidays discovering the many trails, stop by at the Pula Tourist Office, Forum 3 for a map of the hiking routes in the area,” the tourist office says on its website.
