A nice initiative from the tour guides of Split for January.
The Association of Split Tourist Guides has decided to organize free tours for the citizens of Split through the historic centre of their city. The program and the initiative which have been taking place for several years under the name “Free Visits to the Palace” will take place every morning from 4 to 31 January 2016, reports Dalmatinski Portal on December 31, 2016.
“The tours led by our expert guides will begin each day at 11 am. People should gather at the bronze scale model of the city which is located on the Split waterfront, in front of the entrance to the Diocletian’s Cellars. The tour of the historic city centre takes about 60 minutes and it will be an opportunity for our citizens to get better acquainted with the rich historical and cultural heritage of the city of Split and Dalmatia”, says Leo Nikolić, president of the Association of Split Tourist Guides.
In addition to the morning tours, for those citizens of Split who are busy in the mornings, several additional tours will be held in the afternoon. Also, the number of tours offered will be increased during weekends as well. All those citizens who are interested in taking part can apply for the tour by sending an e-mail to the address which has been opened especially for this project: [email protected].
“Based on the great interest which the citizens have shown for this project in previous years, we believe there is no doubt that it will be the same this year as well. In this way, tourist guides from Split want to expressed their respect for the city and fellow citizens. People who are familiar with the history and heritage of the city in which we all live will have more respect for it and will do more to protect that heritage for the future”, adds Nikolić.
