How to impress the girls on a stag do? Walk around a major tourist destination dressed as a terrorist with fake gun and suicide belt. Just another day in Hvar Town on June 17, 2017.

I am getting a lot of emails from the British media at the moment. Ever since The Sun published its piece on the Croatian Magaluf, there has been a lot of interest in Hvar Town. I have declined the interviews so far, for there is really nothing to add to what I have already written, except to emphasise that Hvar Town and the rest of Hvar Island are two worlds apart, and the magic and relaxed charm of Central Hvar, with destinations such as Jelsa, Vrboska and Stari Grad are looking ever more attractive. Hard as it is to believe that anywhere but Hvar Town could be the island’s top destination, with such God-given beauty, heritage and tourism history, the destination which one restaurateur in the town described as ‘too beautiful to f*ck up’, seems to be doing exactly that, unless something is done very quickly.

The only hope – and I really think it is sadly the only hope – is that new Mayor Riki Novak is allowed to follow through with his plans to curtail the party

A little more British tabloid contact this morning, as a friend in Hvar Town sent me a link to a story published in the Daily Mirror late last night. It was written by Mirror journalist Ashleigh Cowie who is staying as a guest in his house (many thanks for the photos). There is no need for me to retell the story, you can read all about it in her article, about the stag do terrorist walking around town with a fake suicide vest and gun.  I would have liked to have seen him do that at Borough Market in London.

The fact that the group were in one of the town’s most exclusive hotels tells its own story.
