The Mediterranean as It Once Was: Rovinj in 1965 (VIDEO)

October 4, 2018 – Continuing our look at the Mediterranean as It Once Was along Croatia’s coast – meet an Istrian jewel in 1965. 

For most people, the most popular and famous Croatian stone town on the water is Dubrovnik. Known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, the southern Dalmatian city has a rich history and heritage, as well as an additional modern appeal through the filming of shows such as HBO blockbuster, Game of Thrones. 

But there is a Croatian coastal city which is even more popular than Dubrovnik in terms of tourist overnights – the Istrian destination of Rovinj. 

A true gem jutting out into the Adriatic, Rovinj routinely tops Croatia’s list for overnight stays each year, with in excess of 3 million overnights, and its charming streets are timeless.
