Celebrating one of Croatia’s best-loved poets.
The regular ferryboat between Split and Stari Grad on Hvar is the Tin Ujević, named after the famous Croatian poet who died sixty years ago this year. Ujević is well known for his poetry, for his unwillingness to bend to the will of the Communists running Yugoslavija after the Second World War, and more recently for the many musical adaptations of his poems, including by the renowned Dalmatian singer, songwriter, Arsen Dedić.
To commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of his death, the first sailing from Split to Stari Grad on Tuesday December 8, 2015 will be rather special, reports the Stari Grad city portal.
During that sailing, Milan Lakoš, the well known Hvar-based poet, actor and all round renaissance man will recite poetry by Tin Ujević, accompanied by music. The ferry should sail at 8:30 in the morning from Split.
