Sleeping on a train takes on a whole new meaning in this hostel.
The story with train hostels started back in 2014 when the Ministry of Tourism gave it a green light with first subsidies totaling 250 000 kunas and very high grades within its tourism innovations program, and on April 20, 2016, the very first train hostel in Croatia was presented to the public.
Stationed at the Zagreb main train station, this is the first train hostel out of several planned across Croatia. The owner of Adriatic railway hostels (Adriatic željeznički hosteli) Željko Momčilović is planning on opening similar hostels in Split, Zadar, Šibenik, Rijeka and Pula and according to his calculations, he will invest a total of 3 million euros to complete his project.
All train hostels, including the one opened today in Zagreb, are built inside abandoned old wagons while old sleeping cars were transformed into hostel rooms. Take a tour with us and if you like it, you can book a room as early as tonight!
