ZAGREB, February 13, 2018 – The Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Tuesday it had presented Croatia’s tourism to 40 South Korean partners as part of the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, emphasising that it expected more South Korean tourists this year.

The HTZ presented Croatia’s tourism together with Slovenia’s Tourist Board, which presented Slovenia’s tourism, as part of joint presentations on remote markets.

HTZ director Kristijan Staničić said more South Korean tourists could be expected in Croatia this year because of more flights connecting it with remote markets such as South Korea, China and Japan. He said South Korean tourists “appreciate the beautiful nature, cultural and historic sites, gastronomy and active vacations” and that many visited outside the summer months.

He said South Korea was an important market for Croatian tourism and that the HTZ would soon open an office in Seoul.

Last year 444,000 South Koreans visited Croatia, generating 534,000 nights, respectively up 20% and 16% on the year.
