June the 8th, 2023 – The Austrian company Austrotherm is pouring a massive 12 million euros into a Zabok investment.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Darko Bicak writes, Austrotherm has started building the first EPS insulation factory in Croatia. This Austrian concern, one of the leading manufacturers of energy-saving and climate-protected thermal insulation in Central and Eastern Europe, will build a state-of-the-art production facility in Zabok, 30 kilometres north of Zagreb, in the coming months. Production and storage halls and office space will occupy about 8,000 square metres.
Investment costs and plans
Investment costs for this Zabok investment (a greenfield project) amount to around 12 million euros. The commissioning of the production facility is planned for the first half of 2024. Austrotherm will also employ 30 people in Croatia next year.
“When, if not now, does saving energy make more sense? High energy prices and the need to do something massive to protect the climate have long since arrived in Croatia. In addition, more than 60 percent of the Croatian housing stock is poorly insulated or not insulated at all. Austrotherm insulation materials significantly reduce heating and cooling costs. Austrotherm EPS-PLUS is especially ideal for the thermal renovation of facades and roofs,” said Klaus Haberfellner, director of the Austrotherm Group, at the start of the company’s work on the new factory.
A wildly successful company lies behind this Zabok investment
In 2022, Austrotherm generated revenue of 627 million euros and employed a total of 1,400 people. The family-owned Austrian concern currently has a total of 26 production locations for insulation materials in twelve countries. In addition to their headquarters in Wopfing and factories in Pinkafeld and Purbach, this pioneer of insulating materials is represented by companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Turkey. This company belongs to the Schmid Industrieholding concern, which had 6,900 employees and generated revenue of 2.6 billion euros in 2022.
