August the 10th, 2025 – Zagreb has confirmed its status as a leading city break destination in Croatia, with more and more of the spotlight shone on the bustling Croatian capital.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Zagreb was visited by almost 152,000 tourists in July, equal to two percent more than in the same month last year. An increase of eight percent was also achieved with almost 282,000 overnight stays, according to the Zagreb Tourist Board. That same tourist board emphasised the fact that Zagreb has confirmed itself as the leading city break destination in all of Croatia. With such impressive results in July, Zagreb has firmly continued this year’s positive tourism trends.

Data from the Zagreb Tourist Board (TZGZ) shows that in the first seven months of the year, more than 767,000 tourists came to Zagreb, achieving around 1.5 million overnight stays. That is equal to two and three percent more than in the same months last year. In addition to domestic tourists, the majority of July’s tourists came to Zagreb from Germany, the USA and Spain.
They also achieved the most overnight stays, with tourists from the USA coming first place, followed by those from Germany and Spain. Commenting on the results of physical tourist traffic for July and 2025’s first seven months, the Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board Martina Bienenfeld said that Zagreb has clearly confirmed its status as a recognisable and competitive urban destination in the wider region.

“Such success is the result of our strategic approach to the development of content, the quality of stay and targeted promotion, which positions Zagreb as a year-round sustainable destination. Along with cultural tourism, the business segment of the offer is one of the crucial ones, which has been confirmed by the results achieved in July.
This is a segment with a clearly defined identity and a competitive offer that continuously attracts domestic and foreign visitors alike. With such results, Zagreb remains in first place in terms of the number of arrivals among destinations in Croatia,” concluded Bienenfeld when discussing Zagreb as the leading city break destination in the country.
