March the 12th, 2024 – Croatia Airlines (CA) is set to introduce three new direct Zagreb routes to the German, Swedish and Albanian capital cities.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Zagreb Tourist Board and Croatia Airlines are continuing their successful business cooperation this year, which has continuously improved the tourism product of the Croatian capital. Precisely because of the synergy in the creation of additional value, alongside the recovery of civil aviation on a global level after the pandemic, the conditions were finally fully created for this year’s expansion of Croatia Airlines’ network of international flights from Zagreb to various other European destinations.
In this year’s summer flight schedule (starting on March the 31st, 2024), CA is expanding Zagreb’s air connection with foreign destinations by introducing three new seasonal Zagreb routes to Tirana, Berlin and Stockholm.
Flights on the new Zagreb – Berlin route are currently planned to run (or fly, rather) three times a week – on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and return tickets are available to passengers at a price starting at 149 euros. Croatia Airlines planes on the new Zagreb – Stockholm route will also fly three times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and return tickets can be purchased starting at 159 euros.
On the direct Zagreb – Tirana route, two flights per week are currently planned – on Fridays and Sundays, and return tickets will be available to passengers at a price starting at 139 euros.
Between CA and Ryanair, Zagreb routes are amassing
In addition to new seasonal flights to Berlin, Stockholm and Tirana, CA is continuing operate flights from Zagreb to all kinds of European destinations. These include Amsterdam, Athens (via Dubrovnik), Barcelona, Vienna, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London (Heathrow), Mostar, Munich, Paris, Rome (via Split and via Dubrovnik), Sarajevo, Skopje and Zurich. This means that passengers will have a total of 18 international Zagreb routes from this company alone, and with the wildly popular Ryanair always filling its flights, the Croatian capital has become a real aviation hub.
“Aware of the fact that Zagreb is first and foremost an air destination, and in accordance with the increased market demand for air transport services, this season we’re pleased to announce that we’re introducing three new Zagreb routes. These new routes will connect the Croatian capital city with the rest of Europe even more strongly and in a better way, thus enabling the arrival of an even greater number of foreign tourists to the capital and the continental part of Croatia.
The long-term cooperation we have with the Zagreb Tourist Board is an example of how synergy leads to a quality tourist product, and we’re looking forward to more joint projects in the future as well. We’re glad that we can offer passengers an even greater choice of international trips in the year in which we’re due to celebrate the company’s 35th anniversary, and start renewing our fleet with new Airbus A220 aircraft”, said Jasmin Bajić, President of the Croatia Airlines Management Board.
The Zagreb Tourist Board and Croatia Airlines have otherwise been cooperating in business for many years now, and have been conducting joint promotional activities, presentations and business workshops in the country and abroad. They’ve had appearances on some of the most important broadcast markets and have engaged in other activities with the aim of improving Zagreb’s tourist offer.
Among those activities is the promotion of Advent in Zagreb in the passenger cabin of an plane with authentic visuals, and a promotional film about Zagreb and its surroundings that is shown on video systems aboard the aircraft. It’s also worth recalling the Zagrebački zolaj project, which brings Zagreb closer to business and economy class travellers through what this climate typically offers. This is an additional promotion of Zagreb’s gastronomic value, as well as the further branding of Croatia’s overall gastronomic wealth.
Far reaching positive implications
“The introduction of new direct Zagreb routes from Croatia Airlines connecting the capital with Berlin, Stockholm and Tirana represents a significant stimulus for tourism in the city and has far-reaching positive implications for other parts of our country as well. Increased accessibility and improved connections with the German market further strengthen the reputation of Zagreb as an alluring European destination, while the direct air connection with Stockholm represents an important step in our accessibility to the Scandinavian tourist market, bringing new visitors who will have the opportunity to explore the cultural and natural beauty of Zagreb.
The introduction of a new route down to Tirana also opens the door to new business and tourism opportunities, as well as strengthening international cooperation. The Zagreb Tourist Board has been cooperating with Croatia Airlines for many years and it is an important strategic partner. Regular direct airlines, as well as daily connections with the main aviation hubs, are the basis for planning our activities. As such I’d like to sincerely thank Mr. Bajić and the entire Croatia Airlines team for their excellent cooperation”, said Martina Bienenfeld, director of the Zagreb Tourist Board.
